Come join us for the first in our new Tahoe Backcountry Skiing Series. We will ski wherever we can find the best snow, with the target always being fresh deep powder. December is often the best powder. Requires advanced skiing skills (resort black diamond+), avalanche training. Randonee or Telemark skis, climbing skis, avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe. | 30

The Sutter Buttes are the oldest and smallest volcanic range in California; We'll meet in Yuba City CA at 9:00 a.m., ready to caravan to the preserve. The hike is about 6-8 miles and 1000 vertical feet. This trip is suitable | 31

New Years on Mt Clark (4W) Dec 31-Jan 3 Come enjoy the Yosemite high country in a different season. A tricky class-4 climb in summer, Mt Clark will be a real alpine challenge in winter. The long western approach up the Illilouette drainage should also make for a pleasant ski tour. Hike from Valley up Muir Trail, don skis and head up Illilouette drainage to camp Climb SE Arete (Class 3-4, rope, axe, crampons) Possible climb of Starr-King on the way out, conditions permitting | 1
