Climbing Aconcagua - Gulnur Tumbat

Gülnur Tumbat is the first Turkish woman to climb Aconcagua (22,841ft). In January 2009, she reached the summit solo, the highest point in South America and outside of Asia. She also was the first Turkish woman to reach the summit of Denali (20,320ft) in June 2007, the highest peak in North America. She has been a climber for more than 15 years and has climbed in Turkey, Russia, Georgia, Nepal, Argentina, and the US. She is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at SFSU where she researches risk marketing and risk consumption and uses her expeditions also as sites for data collection. In her presentation titled "A Distant-Solo-High-Altitude-Climbing Experiment," she will talk about her experiences on Aconcagua as a solo woman climber.
